RENOVATED MEDIEVAL CASTLE INTO REGIONAL MUSEUM

All

THE RENOVATION OF THE OUTER KEEP IN ORMOŽ

Location: Ormož, Slovenia

Date of construction: 2009 - 2011

Info: The medieval castle outer keep was renovated for the regional museum “Pokrajinski muzej Ptuj Ormož” extension and for the new Ormož music school. The idea to use clay, the local building material, as the main motive of the new architectural intervention into the medieval stone building, was extended into the concept of the museum exhibition, where the use of clay from prehistoric times to middle age sculpture is presented. The renovation of the ruined castle outer keep, which is part of the city centre, improved the urban development and the revitalization of the area.
