UNIQUE ROOF AND DOUBLE FACADE PROVIDES COMFORT AND LESS ENERGY REQUIRED

MERIN HILL

Location: Lekino Brdo, Belgrade, Serbia

Date of construction: February 2019. – November 2021

Info: The project has exceeded its initial idea of being conventional affordable housing, by using its exoskeleton façade to reduce thermal heating, and by having a multiplanar roof that relates to its surroundings built environment.

Also, the usually undesirable rooftop apartments were turned into the most praised ones in the entire condominium. By making a non-traditional switch between upstairs and downstairs living, the bedrooms were moved to the entry-level, and the living and work areas on top. With this configuration, the living room opens to a spacious outdoor area, that is formed by the characteristic roof envelope, delivering affordable architecture as a high-end penthouse proposition.
