ENERGY EFFICIENT & AFFORDABLE LIVING COMFORT IN BRICK CONSTRUCTION
PROJECT SIEGLANGER
Location: Sieglanger district on Josef-Franz-Huter-straße; Austria
Date of construction: 2009/2010 - handover 06/2010
Info: In the western Innsbruck district of Sieglanger, apartment ownership is once again setting an exciting accent in terms of modern, energy-efficient and above all, affordable living comfort in brick construction. The non-profit developer Wohnungseigentum realised an extraordinary housing project with Innsbruck’s city planning department: 83 flats of high architectural and constructional quality were built. The architectural duo Scharmer and Wurnig emerged as the winner for this residential project by fulfilling the requirements for development, orientation and structing of the building structures, emission protection and economic efficiency to the best possible extent. The individual buildings are designed as passive houses - with the best possible thermal protection of the thermal envelope as well as active and passive use of solar energy. A comfortable indoor climate is guaranteed by the high storage-effective masses, partly external sun protection, shading by canopies and controlled ventilation with heat recovery. The external brick wall has external thermal insulation composite system and in some areas with clinker brick facing as exposed brick façade. Additionally, the interior walls have 1 cm interior plaster, 25 cm vertically perforated brick masonry.
